Negociation and Transaction in a Context of Restructuring : The Role of Corporate Social Responsibility, Ethics and Trust

In the current context of globalization and industrial restructuring, we find it interesting to analyze a negociation about a re-opening, in 2006, of a production site within a multinational enterprise. Today, the site is partly closed. The negociation between trade union and management représentatives was strategic for the revival of production activity at this period and retention of 10000 direct and indirect jobs. The sociological analysis of the "ideal-typical" case study in the weberian sense focuses on a set of specific features: cross-border negociation over the maintaining of local economic activities, relations betwen the main actors, time pressures, and uncertainty situations. It allows us to illustrate the "structuration" theoy of Giddens (1990) insofar as we cannot ignore neither the importance of structures nor the actions of individuals; each element has an influence on the other and is influenced in return
