Network Infrastructure Construction and Heterogeneous Enterprise Innovation Quasi-Natural Experiment Based on "Broadband China"
Based on the technology choice model of Bustos(2011) and the infrastructure spillover model of Dugga(1999), this paper explores the different impacts of network infrastructure construction on radical and incremental enterprise innovation from the micro perspective of enterprise and industry heterogeneity. The results show that: (1) The construction of network infrastructure can significantly improve enterprises' radical innovation and incremental innovation of enterprises. (2)On the perspective of firm heterogeneity, the construction of network infrastructure has a significant role in promoting the two innovation capabilities of medium-sized and large-scale enterprises and state-owned enterprises; (3)The construction of network infrastructure is conducive to the radical innovation of local enterprises and the incremental innovation of export enterprises; (4)On the perspective of industry heterogeneity, the construction of network infrastructure is conducive to radical enterprise innovation in high concentration industries, high competition industries and high-tech industries, while in low concentration industries and low competition industries, the construction of network infrastructure is conducive to incremental enterprise innovation; (5)Further study found that talent structure and financing constraints are essential channels for network infrastructure construction to boost enterprises to achieve two kinds of enterprise innovation, and enterprise digital transformation plays a partial regulatory role in the above channels. This paper provides a valuable reference for enterprises in developing countries to improve different types of innovation in the digital age
