New Approaches on Good Governance in the European Union

Governance as a concept has progressed from obscurity to widespread usage, particularly in the last two decades, due to the critical role it plays in determining welfare for nations, regions, communities. The paper aims to offer an overview on good governance and it’s principles, the way it evolved from the World Bank’s point of view in the ‘90’s, to European Commission’s White Paper on European Governance in 2001.
