Nicht-neutrale Inflation
Nicht-neutrale Inflation In der Inflationstheorie wird anerkannt, daß im Gleichgewicht einer stationären Wirtschaft die Inflationsrate und die nominale Geldmengensteigerungsrate übereinstimmen. Diese Beziehung stellt jedoch noch keine Inflationstheorie dar, denn sie schließt den Fall nicht aus, daß die Geldmengensteigerungsrate und mithin die Preisänderungsrate null oder negativ ist. Das inflationstheoretische Kernproblem besteht darin zu begründen, warum die Geldmengensteigerungsrate und damit die Inflationsrate positiv ist. Im Rahmen der "Neuen klassischen Makroökonomik" ist die Inflation ohne Effekte, also neutral. Da somit alle Preisänderungsraten im Hinblick auf ihre Realwirkungen gleichwertig sind, bleibt das inflationstheoretische Kernproblem ungelöst. Es gibt für die monetären Instanzen keinen Grund, eine positive Preisniveauänderungsrate einer negativen oder einer von null vorzuziehen. In dem Aufsatz werden dagegen Modelle mit nicht-neutraler Inflation (bei rationalen Erwartungen) daraufhin untersucht, inwieweit sieeinen Zugang zum inflationstheoretischen Kernproblem liefern. Hat die Inflation Realeffekte, so kann dies die monetären Instanzen veranlassen, bestimmte Preisniveauänderungsraten anderen vorzuziehen wegen der damit implizierten Realwirkungen. Es zeigt sich aber, daß viele makroökonomische Modelle, die reale Effekte einer Inflation begründen, gleichwohl für die Lösung des inflationstheoeretischen Kernproblems ungeeignet erscheinen..In manchen Modellen ist die optimale Inflationsrate null, in anderen setzt ein Optimum nur die Stabilisierung der Inflationsrate (auf welchem Niveau auch immer) voraus. Es wird jedoch auch ein Modell diskutiert, in dem autonome Lohn- und Preisfixierungen vorkommen, die auch auf das aggregierte Lohn- und Preisniveau durchwirken. In diesem Modell ist die optimale Preisniveauänderungsrate positiv.
