O Programa Bolsa Família e a Transição da Fecundidade no Brasil
O debate sobre a relação entre renda, mortalidade e natalidade acontece há mais de 200 anos e é um tema recorrente da modernidade. Na última década do século XVIII, o Marquês de Condorcet, na França, e William Godwin, na Inglaterra, consideravam que o desenvolvimento econômico ? implicando a melhoria da qualidade de vida dos cidadãos ? teria o efeito de reduzir não só as taxas de mortalidade, mas também as de natalidade. Porém, Thomas Malthus ao escrever o ?Ensaio sobre a população?, em 1798, polemiza com as ideias progressistas dos dois pensadores da racionalidade iluminista. (?)
