On the Waterfront at the Pier's Edge : The Longshoremen's and Harbor Worker's Compensation Act

This Article studies both inconsistent and indecisive judicial interpretations of The Longshoremen and Harbor Worker's Compensation Act and calls for congressional action to end the stark disparities in coverage between landward work conduct for maritime workers when boing between ship and shore. Subsequent to this Article, Public Law 92-576, enacted in 1972, addressed a number of the concerns raised here and Public Law 98-426, passed in l984, sought further to clarify the status and situation of longshoremen and harbor workers and their maritime claims for compensation for injuries sustained in the course of employment
