Perspectives of Knowledge Management in Universities

The economic performance of states depends on the quality of their educational systems, and human capital is the most efficient production factor, expressed through the knowledge, competences, creative abilities and moral traits of the members of society. In educational and training systems, knowledge management needs to play the main role. Companies give special attention to learning and knowledge sharing skills, as much as to technologies and processes, using management models that require strategic areas for ensuring future performance. Generating, sharing, using, providing, and measuring organizational knowledge are activities that companies include in an independent "production line." The educational system will become a vital production line, regarded as a profession supported by profitable investments. Universities accomplish their mission as "learning organizations" and provide curricula that support models and solutions exploited through "knowledge management," aiming to acquire knowledge used to improve organizational performance, with an accent on improving efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation. Our work stresses universities' efforts to create the necessary framework and solutions to be applied in order to develop knowledge management as well as the impact of globalization and internationalization on education and professional training
