Poverty and HIV/AIDS in Namibia – Causes, Consequences and Policy Options

This article deals with the impact of poverty on the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Namibia. It considers the scale and scope of the pandemic and its anticipated impact on the economy and education in sub-Saharan African countries. It draws some lessons for Namibia. The paper concludes how the poverty impacted the pandemic and the quality of labour force eventually provides some policy implications. The study employed a qualitative research technique and the data mainly collected from secondary sources such as Government Reports, UNAIDS, WHO, etc. The results of this study are under guidance of the previous studies. The study found out that there is a negative relationship between HIV/AIDS and economic growth in Namibia. This means that indeed HIV/AIDS can hamper economic growth in the country
