Preparation Methods and Performance Analysis of Polyanthaquinone / Carbon Nanotube Composites for Capturing Carbon Dioxide
Carbon capture is one of the important methods to achieve carbon neutrality. In this paper, a simple and reliable method for the preparation of poly(anthraquinone)/multi-walled carbon nanotube composites (PAQ/MWCNTs) for capturing carbon dioxide is proposed. Using multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as substrates, the poly(anthraquinone)/multi-walled carbon nanotube composites were fabricated by using magnetic stirring, which allowed 1,4-anthraquinone (1,4-AQ) to accumulate on the multi-walled carbon nanotubes via π-π. Besides, the carbon cloth electrode prepared from PAQ/MWCNTs composites was subjected to redox potentials for carbon dioxide capture. Results showed that PAQ/MWCNTs composites had good redox reversibility, their carbon dioxide capture capacity was 7.80 mmolg-1 while the material utilization rate reaches reached 73.4%. Moreover, the capture efficiency of carbon dioxide for the experimentally produced composite material was lower than that of the literature published data and the existing industrial capture methods. Finally, the results of this study provide certain theoretical guidance and engineering application value for promoting low carbon emissions
