Pressure management keeps down the stress at Toshiba UK
Purpose – Examines the pressure‐management programme and other aspects of the health policy, covering both physical and psychological issues, which helped Toshiba UK to scoop the “healthiest employer in the southern counties” title in the recent BBC Health Work awards. Design/methodology/approach – Describes the company's flexible‐benefits scheme, working‐from‐home policies, the WELL programme, and other ways in which the firm promotes healthy living. Findings – Highlights the ways in which Toshiba UK has achieved low absence rates, and has improved productivity and morale, by managing absence efficiently, having a strong management process in place and empowering employees to adopt healthy practices. Practical implications – Demonstrates that a comprehensive health policy can help to ensure that employees happy and productive. Originality/value – Details an effective programme that is having a real impact on reducing stress at the workplace.
