Psychological Capital & Work-Life Balance : A Study on Police Officers
Positive psychological state of development helps the individual to put in the necessary efforts in challenging situations. And to be able to strike a balance between work and life beyond work is nothing less than a challenge for every working individual and more so for police officers. The present study explored the relationship between the core constructs of psychological capital ( hope, optimism, resilience and efficacy) with work-life balance. The study was conducted on 50 police officers posted in Rajasthan (N=50) as Superintendent of Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Additional Superintendent of Police using Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ) developed by Luthans, Youssef, Avolio (2007) and Worklife balance questionnaire developed by Haddon(2008). Correlation design was used to analyze the data. Results revealed that psychological capital and work-life balance were positively related (r =0.316 significant at 0.05 level), wherein only efficacy, one of the construct of psychological capital, significantly related to work-life balance (r =0.329 significant at 0.01 level)
