Quelques Théories de Détermination des Salaires et Impacts des Politiques Publiques (Wage Determination Theory and Public Policy Impacts)

Studies of the labor market and wages tend to use mainstream labor economics; the neo-classical model based on the principles of supply and demand. Little consideration is given to an alternate current. This work discusses three theories of wage determination. Two of these theories are selected from the neoclassical paradigm, the basic neo-classical theory and the human capital theory. As for the other, the dual-structural theory, it belongs to the institutional paradigm, identified as the opposite paradigm. This study performs a comparative and critical analysis of these three theories and illustrates the role of institutions in the process of wage determination. It shows how these theories might help to shed light on the variances observed in the wages of individuals with the same competencies
