Quito's Climate Change Strategy: Policies for Planned Adaptation and Reducing Vulnerability

The following presentation outlines the Quito Climate Change Strategy (QCCS). The QCCS aims to balance policy responses between adaptation and mitigation and to design policy to reflect local priorities and realities. The strategy takes an integrated and holistic approach to address social vulnerability and the risk of natural disasters and uses lessons learned from local climate change management initiatives, leading to the development of a Manual for Local Climate Change Management and the creation of a Local Environmental Authorities' Network. The presentation concludes with a set of lessons learned and policy recommendations based on Quito's experience.
