Regional Structure of Unemployment in Japan
Regional analysis of the unemployment rate is the least studied area of unemployment research in Japan. One reason is that the average unemployment rate reported for each district reflects unemployment rates by industry, gender, and age in a very complex manner, and therefore it is not easy to evaluate regional unemployment characteristics accurately. The tremendous amount of calculations required to perform analyses based on data by prefecture is probably another factor.
