Regulatory Competition and Corporate Mobility within the Eurasian Economic Union

This study analyses regulatory competition in connection with economic integration on a new empirical example of the Eurasian Economic Union. It explores a large dataset of limited liability partnerships (LLPs) incorporated in Kazakhstan between the years 2006 and 2013. The aim is to verify whether the economic integration within the Eurasian Customs Union (CU) led to similar incorporation behaviour of companies as was the case within the European Union after the Centros ruling of the European Court of Justice. Evidence based on the Kazakh dataset shows that there has been a strong increase in the registration numbers of Russian LLPs in Kazakhstan after the foundation of the CU.
