Remedial Measures to the Economic Violation against Dalit Entrepreneurs

With regard to remedial measures to economic violation against dalit entrepreneurs in Tamilnadu, these were mostly people working with the locally active dalit groups. While it is easy to locate dalit activists, it is not so, easy to locate a dalit entrepreneur. They simply are not there in big numbers. One is a little dismayed and has to think of an alternative strategy for fieldwork. It was decided to hire local educated dalit entrepreneurs and ask them to spend a few weeks and prepare a list of dalit commercial establishments. As expected, it was easier to locate dalit enterprises in Tamilnadu. As expected, a majority of them have rather modest set-ups, run by relatively young dalit men and have been in existence for relatively brief periods.
