Research Methods and Statistical Techniques used in Research and Developmental Studies at Pampanga State Agricultural University Trends and Implications for Future Research
The methodology is the brain of a study in which the research method and type of data analysis are discussed in a more detailed and scientific approach. The main objective of this research is to assess the different research methods and statistical techniques used by university students and faculty researchers from 2011 to 2020. A descriptive analysis method was utilized in the study, accumulating a total number of 1992 student manuscripts and 56 faculty research papers through convenience sampling. Findings of the study indicate that the quantitative research method was the most widely used in both student and faculty research studies compared to qualitative and mixed research methods. Furthermore, descriptive and experimental were commonly used in the quantitative research method. Frequently used descriptive statistical techniques were mean, frequency, percentages, and Likert score/interpretation in research studies. Test of difference and relationship/association were commonly used inferential statistical techniques, while reliability and factor analyses were the least. Moreover, ANOVA and LSD primarily used tests of difference and multiple comparison tests by student and faculty researchers who used quantitative research methods. In contrast, Pearson and Chi-square correlations were primarily used as tests of relationship/association. Lastly, most of the R&D studies used a 5% significance level
