Retirement Plan Participation : Full-Time, Full-Year Workers Ages 18-64

This article focuses on employment-based retirement plan participation for full-time, full-year wage and salary workers ages 18 -64 years old, as this is the group that is generally targeted for benefit program participation under federal law and by employers and unions. The retirement plan total participation rates of these workers are investigated across various worker demographic and employer characteristics. The article provides the latest retirement plan participation numbers for all wage and salary workers available from the March 2000 Current Population Survey (CPS).
