Romanian Foreign Trade Under the Impact of European Customs Regulations

The changes in Romanian trade policies due to the EU accession will influence trade flows. The impact on trade of the enlargement of the EU customs union will depend not only on the change in tariffs, but also on structural adjustments in Romanian economy. The object of this study is to analyze the impact of the European customs union enlargement on Romania's trade flows. The work is directed towards assessing what the likely trade flows diversion will be and which products and trading partners will be most affected. The study provides an overview of the potential impact of EU accession on the Romanian imports, estimating the change in the structure of imports when Romania will adopt the EU Common Customs Tariff
