Rural resources generation and mobilisation

Exploration of savings generation and deployment in the rural sector as well as the flow of resources to and from the sector in the form of financial liabilities and assets are discussed. It is shown that there is no clear evidence of an increase in rural or agricultural savings rate, but there is considerable evidence of a change in the pattern of savings i.e. in asset preference.
