Seniority and defense production.
Inducing workers to leave their regular employment to work in plants producing war goods constitutes one of the difficult problems in mobilization. Because of the temporary nature of war work, employees are reluctant to abandon the length-of-service rights and status they have accrued with their regular employers. In this discussion, efforts made during World War II to protect seniority rights of workers are reviewed and some suggestions for the current emergency are made. (Author's abstract courtesy EBSCO.)
