Simultaneous Choice of Current Housing Tenure Choice and Anticipated Co-Residence with Children in Japan.

This analysis presents a joint logit probability model in which, for the first time, the household's current housing tenure choice and expected co-residence with its children are hypothesized to be simultaneously determined. Empirical analysis indicates that there is a positive correlation between current tenure choice and future co-residence with children and that these are jointly determined. The age of the household head has a significant positive effect on both the probability of ownership and co-residence. In addition, variables which affect tenure choice such as relative tenure prices have an impact on co-residence.
