Das Thema "Hunger" haben J. Ziegler: "Das Imperium der Schande" (BA 2/06) und J. Sachs: "Das Ende der Armut" (BA 1/06) mit großer Sachkompetenz und moralischem Impetus analysiert und beschrieben. Beide werden von der österreichischen Journalistin wiederholt zitiert, die hier ebenfalls die globalen Strukturen aufzeigt, die als Verursacher des Hungers in Asien und Afrika, aber mittlerweile selbst in Europa, zu identifizieren sind: Spekulation an den Rohstoffbörsen, Geschäfte der Agromultis, neoliberale Welthandelsstrukturen, Klimawandel, Biotreibstoffe, übermäßige Fleischproduktion, Überschwemmung der Drittweltländer mit subventionierten Billigprodukten, somit Existenzvernichtung der einheimischen Kleinbauern usw. Ihr Einstieg in die Thematik sind kleine Reportagen aus aller Welt, die den Alltag der Hungernden drastisch aufzeigen. Diese Schlaglichter führen den Leser dann zu den vielschichtigen Ursachen der Ernährungskrise, die in gut verständlicher Argumentation aufgearbeitet wird. Auch wenn eine sorgfältigere Lektorierung dem Buch zugute gekommen wäre, gilt für die aktuelle, kompetente Darstellung: (2)
