La Sociedad Civil Global En La Gobernanza Ambiental Del Sector Agua En El Mundo (Global Civil Society in Environmental Governance of the Water Sector in the World)

In order to make reference to environmental governance, in which global civil society plays a key role, four key concepts are defined: civil society, networks, environmental governance, and geopolitics. Secondly, the concept of water as much more than a service, and indeed a right, is presented and defended. However, it is shown that it took more than a decade for this idea to be recognized at the international level. Lastly, two cases are presented which illustrate the successes of global civil society. They show that networks strengthen the value of existing information and from that, GCS is successful at denouncing irregularities occurring around the globe. This dynamic reveals a struggle for power between multiple international players, driven by underlying geostrategic interests.
