Space Size and Hotel Preference

Human is not always rational. The majority of decisions are taken emotionally. In daily life, even the routinely taken decisions are to be affected by several factors, including culture, climate, religion, education, age, gender and the last but not the least the size of the environment within which one is used to/be live/living and/or work. The present research sets out to explore whether the size of the personal environment has any effect on consumers' current preferences in relation to hotel type and hotel rooms. The preliminary results obtained from an online questionnaire showed that whilst on holiday people who were brought up in small houses and currently living small rooms tended to prefer big hotel rooms. Equally interestingly, people mostly preferred small boutique hotel but with big rooms. Large hotels with big rooms ranked as the second choice. The managerial implications of the results are discussed
