State of Organizational Culture for Knowledge Management in Indian Industry
We are in the knowledge economy and management scholars worldwide agree that knowledge is the most critical resource today. Organizational culture is highlighted as the major reason behind failure of knowledge management initiatives. I conducted research to understand the current state of organizational culture for knowledge management in the selected sectors of software, pharmaceuticals and petroleum marketing, taking into account both macro and micro aspects in both private and public sectors. The findings are not very encouraging as they reveal that there is a lack of organizational culture for knowledge creation, sharing and dissemination which has serious implications for the competitiveness of the firms, industry and the country.
