Statistical Indicators of Social Dialogue : A Compilation of Multiple Country Databases

Various attempts have been made to measure trade union coverage, collective bargaining, freedom of association, and quot;voicequot; to better understand social dialogue. This is essential to implement and control decent work. This paper collects statistics from various sources, describing how the statistical data was collected and adjusted so users of this data can judge for themselves its quality and how it can best be used for measuring social dialogue. The data consists of indicators of trade union coverage, collective bargaining, strikes, and lockouts from original sources compiled from the International Labour Office, the World Bank, the OECD, the European Union, Eurostat, and research institutions
