Study on the Economic Drivers and Changing Characteristics of Chinese Cities Under the Influence of the COVID-19 Epidemic
The COVID-19 has had a significant impact on China and the global economy. Studying the changes in the driving factors of China 's regional economic development before and after the epidemic is of great significance for high-quality development. Based on the data of 296 cities in China from 2019 to 2020, this paper uses geographic detectors to analyze the differentiation characteristics and driving factors of China 's economic development before and after the outbreak. The results show that (1) China 's regional economy maintained a sustained development trend before and after the epidemic, but there were obvious spatial differentiation characteristics. (2) Before and after the outbreak, technological innovation, social consumption, business operations, education spending, and foreign trade were the main drivers of economic development. (3) Different factors have a driving effect on China 's regional economic development. These studies will for China 's sustainable and high-quality economic development
