Subjective and Objective Living Conditions of Unemployed Persons (Subjektive Und Objektive Lebenslagen Von Arbeitslosen)

The discussion paper picks out the objective and the subjective well-being of the unemployed in Germany compared to the total population as a central theme. The results indicate a distinctly worse material, i. e. objective circumstance of the unemployed. This is reflected by the subjective statements concerning the material well-being categories, less by the valuations of immaterial well-being items. In this context the family relationships seem to be primarily important in the sense of social support. With respect to labour market policies – especially to ”Hartz IV” – partly there seems to exist broad qualifications in the German population
