Support for Deploying Business Processes for the Interaction Between IP Network and Transport Network Management Systems

Research institutions, individuals and some standardization organizations are provided with several solutions for integrating the IP network and the transport network management. These solutions, however, focus only on the technical aspects of interoperability between the IP network and the Transport Network Management Systems (T-NMS). The paper addresses the interoperability problem from a business process perspective. Web Service Business Process Execution Language (WS-BPEL) is used to describe and align the processes of the IP Network Management System (IP-NMS), T-NMS and a mediator that works between those management systems. In addition to this, the performance of the mediator is compared for processing single and multiple requests in terms of time, reliability and cost of process. The results showed that it is economical and timesaving to process multiple requests at a time, while single request gives higher reliability. It is believed that the solution would provide high flexibility and lead to an effective network management interaction between IP-NMS and the T-NMS
