Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA)

This paper examines the peculiarities in Sweden International Development Cooperations Agency's functioning. The report was presented at the special seminar at Moscow State University. The aim of the study is to analyze the specific features of Sida's activities in terms of its legal status, distribution of powers between the Agency and other development institutions, its subordination, tasks, responsibilities, financing and its special role in elaborating and evaluating country's strategic development cooperation documents. Distinct from many other European countries, the Side has relatively clear mandate and rather significant responsibilities. Although it is subordinate to the Ministry of Finance, a special "division of power" exists in the country as to the provision of official development assistance
