TESTING FOR SEPARABILITY AND STRUCTURAL CHANGE IN URBAN CHINESE FOOD DEMAND
This paper estimates and tests separable demand specifications in food expenditures by urban consumers in China. Both parametric and nonparametric techniques are employed to obtain information about shifts in consumer preferences and appropriate commodity groupings. The results have implications for past and future research and policy analysis.
