The conduct of Latin America's creditor banks

This article sets forth new ideas which emerged from the Interregional Project on Transnational Banks undertaken by the United Nations Centre on Transnational Corporations. It has been possible to define the consequences of the behaviour of the transnational banks more clearly on the basis of an analysis of these institutions both during the boom period of lending and during the period of debt restructuring. For this purpose, an analysis was made of the loan contracts signed by the transnational banks with six countries
