The Dismal Performance of Non-Financial State-Owned Corporations in Bangladesh

This essay provides an analysis of the financial performance of non-financial state-owned corporations in Bangladesh which are in financially decrepit conditions. The causes of the poor performance of state-owned corporations are identified. Their financial losses, poor performance, inefficiency and subsidization create pressure on the national exchequer, weaken the country's financial sector and reduce the competitiveness of the country's private sector. Feasible policy options to overcome the dismal performance of state-owned corporations in Bangladesh are discussed
