The article provides a brief analysis of the magnitude of the financial implications of the religious duty of the Hajj. Influence of the activity of organizing the pilgrimage on the community and the state. Many enterprises which are linked with this activity make big profits. The nation's foreign exchange is affected, as well as the balance of payments between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. The author suggests that if the government wishes to restrict the amount of foreign exchange leaving Indonesia, any increase in the number of pilgrims could be curbed by raising the cost of the pilgrimage.
