The geometry of the thermal quasi-particle transformation
We introduce a new concept for thermal quantum theories, which expresses a time dependent quasi-particle picture as the coupling to an external (classical) gauge field. The non-Abelian nature of this field even for quasi-free systems can lead to renormalization factors that depend on the system's history. In this framework, the geometry of adiabatic time evolutions is investigated in detail, and implications for non-equilibrium systems are discussed.
