The impact of CAP's «second pillar» transfers on agricultural employment in the 2000-2006 programming cycle: the case of Sardinian municipalities
This paper studies, for the case of Sardinian municipalities, the effects of regional policy transfers under the «second pillar» of the CAP 2000-2006 on the change in employment in the primary sector. Given the characteristics of the treatment variable, which is continuous, the Generalized Propensity Score (Hirano and Imbens, 2004; Imai and Van Dijk, 2004) is employed. The results obtained suggest that the "policy" has had a positive and significant role in stemming the fall in agricultural employment.
