The Impact of HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia : The Gender Factor

The most affected part of the world by HIV/AIDS is Sub-Sahara Africa where two-thirds of all people with HIV/AIDS are living. Ethiopia, as one of the Sub-Saharan countries, is one of the most severely afflicted countries by HIV/AIDS in the world. In Ethiopia, HIV/AIDS is more wide spread in towns and cities than rural areas and most of the patients are women. The four important HIV transmission mechanisms in Ethiopia are sexual contact, perinatal transmission, blood transfusion and unsafe injections.
