The Impact of Monkeys (Macaca sinica) Threats on the Vicinity of Matale Town, Sri Lanka

This research delves into the study of Macaca sinica, commonly known as the toque monkey, in the context of Sri Lanka. The investigation explores the interactions between this primate population and its environment, emphasizing the consequences of female-female aggression, the development of female-female relationships, and resting behaviours. Additionally, the study examines the impact of group size and neocortex size on resting behaviour in primates. Furthermore, it investigates the life history of the toque monkey within an agroecosystem setting, considering the potential implications of its presence on agricultural practices. Through a comprehensive analysis of the species distribution, behaviour, and ecological significance, this research contributes valuable insights into the dynamics of Macaca sinica populations in Sri Lanka, thereby aiding in conservation efforts and enhancing our understanding of primate social cognition
