The Kauffman Financial Statements Database

The Kauffman Financial Statements Database (KFSD) wasproduced by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation as a source forentrepreneurial and small business research at the firm level. Unlike many databases, the KSFDcontains balance sheet and incomestatement information.The database provides records for about 302,230companies, including data from sales volume to CEO gender. It should enable researchers to tackle many questions that focus at the firmlevel, while avoiding problems associated with convenience samples, crosssectional samples, small samples, and response bias generated from low responserates. Advice is offered to scholars interested in accessing the KFSD.(SAA)
