The Mannheim Foundation Panels of the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW)
Bei der vorliegenden Dokumentation handelt es sich um eine Beschreibung der Mannheimer Gründungspanels des ZEW, die vor allem die Identifizierung von Gründungs- und Schließungsereignissen in diesen Datenquellen erläutert und die dabei auftretenden Schwierigkeiten problematisiert. Datengrundlage für die ZEW-Gründungspanels sind die etwa halbjährlich von CREDITREFORM bereitgestellten Unternehmensdaten. CREDITREFORM ist die größte deutsche Kreditauskunftei und verfügt über eine umfassende Datenbank zu deutschen Unternehmen. In der CREDITREFORM-Datenbank werden nahezu alle im Handelsregister eingetragenen Unternehmen erfasst. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit der Erfassung eines nicht im Handelsregister eingetragenen Unternehmens hangt dagegen von dessen Kreditnachfrage sowie dem Umfang seiner Geschäftsbeziehungen zu anderen Unternehmen ab. Die Gruppe der Unternehmen, die in Verbindung mit einem Gesamtvollstreckungs- bzw. Konkursverfahren geschlossen wurden, kann in den ZEW Gründungspanels recht zuverlässig und in einfacher Art und Weise identifiziert werden. Freiwillige Unternehmensschließungen werden von CREDITREFORM weniger ausführlich und zeitnah recherchiert. Da die entsprechenden Informationen nicht in kodierter Form, sondern nur in freier Textform zur Verfügung stehen, verlangt die Abgrenzung der Gruppe freiwillig geschlossener Unternehmen sorgfältige und zeitaufwendige Textauswertungen.
