The Myth of the Subsidy to Gasoline and ACPM

Among the myths which persist in Colombia, there is the one of subsidies to petrol derivates. The Diesel and the gasoline prices in Colombia are among the highest in the world for countries which are self-sustaining hydrocarbons and the customers are paying the opportunity cost. The profits for Ecopetrol and the national government are huge given the difference between the costs of production and the income which the state company receives; therefore, talking about subsidies is incorrect
