The Regional Financial Institutions : The Arab Development Funds

This book set out to investigate the general situation of the Arab development funds, in an attempt to explore the main aspects of their role in the development and advancement of the region. Of the eleven funds, one works only in guaranteeing the funds' operations, and is included, because its work is directly connected to the other ten funds. These funds constitute similar stated purposes although differ in some variations of degree. This study concludes that there are large amounts of non-called capital shares for the existing Arab funds. In addition, the present funds allocated only one third of their total assets to granting loans, while the majority of their assets are invested in deposits in banks, bonds and securities inside and outside the region. Finally, the Arab funds directed their operations towards public projects, while there is a need to establish new institutions to deal with private businesses
