The role of plastic concerning the sustainable development goals : the literature point of view
Fabiula Danielli Bastos de Sousa
There is no doubt about the importance of plastic in modern society. It has revolutionized our daily lives and several industrial sectors. It is widely present in our lives, from the beginning to the end, due to its practicality, convenience, and safety. Given its importance, it plays an essential role to target the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that sets out the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A critical overview of the role of plastic concerning the SDGs, discussing its pros and cons, is provided in this paper, and a future scenario is tried to be outlined, based on a bibliometric mapping and analysis and the recent literature.
