The role of women in Ghana's economy

The study investigates the participation of women in economic activities, to identify factors that hinder their development, to shed light on how women affect and are affected by policies, programs and projects. It basically makes use of secondary data. After looking at the socio-economic Characteristics of women in Ghana the study discusses the contribution of women in the three economic sectors (agriculture, industry, services). Finally the study offers recommendations which are critical to promoting integration of women into Ghana’s economic opportunities and strategic objectives and in reducing gender-based constraints on economic growth and development.
