Purpose – Describes the policies and practices that have helped Flight Centre UK to reach tenth place in the Great Place to Work awards and be recognized in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For for the ninth time. Design/methodology/approach – Examines the company's approach to career development, training, remuneration, rewards and other employee benefits. Findings – Details the promotion opportunities available to new and talented employees in this growing company. Practical implications – Highlights the fact that most senior managers – including the firm's managing director – set out as travel consultants. Originality/value – Gives an overview of award-winning HR policies at a fast-growing company.
