To Karl Aiginger, Vir Oeconomicus: The Industrial Economist and Colleague, on the Occasion of his 65th Birthday
For forty years, Karl Aiginger has been a colleague, a sports partner, a friend. His immense energy which he expended on economic research, on institute management matters, on employee representation, on extra-curricular, mainly sports activities and, finally as a director, have borne ripe fruit for himself, the Austrian economy and his colleagues. He brought modern industrial economics to Austria and pursued it with fervour, also in the face of opposition. He combined academic with applied research and advice and has put WIFO (and his own name) on the international map of excellence.
