Trinidad and Tobago: Financial Sector: Sector Note

This sector note discuss about Trinidad and Tobago Government's decision of implementing a series of measures to minimize vulnerabilities in its financial system. Some of the specific regulatory and supervisory reform areas are: insurance sector, credit union sector, occupational pension, securities bill and mutual fund. The objective of the proposed Bank intervention in the sector is to strengthen the financial system. Also, the objective of the loan operations is to support the government's country in their efforts to reduce the vulnerabilities in their financial sector and lessen the likelihood of a systemic crisis.
