Trinidad and Tobago: Private Sector Development and Competitiveness Sector Note

This sector note presents an analysis of the private sector participation in Trinidad and Tobago. It also comments about the progress of the Bank's operations related to funding for private equity investment; development of business capabilities and improvements in the business climate. Furthermore, the Bank supported initiatives to improve access to finance and sustainability of the Small and Medium Enterprises sector through FINPYME diagnostic reviews, GREENPYME promotion of energy efficiency in Small and Medium Enterprises and Corporate Governance Support Programs and on a regional level, assistance to the Caribbean private sector development in the form of three non-reimbursable Technical Cooperation projects related to competitiveness strategies in the Caribbean. Finally, it presents the government priorities for the sector, challenges to fulfilling the strategic objectives, expected results from bank activities and the risks to the proposed work program.
