Umgang mit Psychopharmaka und sozialarbeiterische Professionalität: Forschungsstand, empirische Befunde und Diskussionsbedarf
Die Verwendung von Psychopharmaka ist ein Thema von anhaltender gesellschaftlicher Brisanz und großer Bedeutung für die Soziale Arbeit. Während die Auseinandersetzung mit der Rolle von Sozialarbeiter:innen im Umgang mit diesen Medikamenten in den USA seit langer Zeit relativ intensiv geführt wird und empirische Daten dazu erhoben worden sind, führt die Verständigung darüber im deutschsprachigen Raum ein Schattendasein. Fragen nach dem professionellen Selbstverständnis und Kompetenzanforderungen werden knapp und im Wesentlichen in Bezug auf sozialpsychiatrische Arbeitsfelder behandelt. Der Autor stellt erste Ergebnisse eines qualitativen Forschungsprojekts im Arbeitsfeld Flüchtlingshilfe vor, mit denen zunächst die Art der sozialarbeiterischen Involviertheit in die Materie auch außerhalb 'klinischer' Arbeitskontexte beleuchtet wird. Ferner werden sowohl die Bedeutung einer Selbstverständigung über die professionelle Rolle als auch die Dringlichkeit bestimmter Schlüsselkompetenzen für diese Thematik aufgezeigt. Abschließend plädiert der Autor für ein medikalisierungskritisches Mainstreaming, um nicht nur den Anliegen der sozialarbeiterischen Klientel, sondern auch der Professionsidentität gerecht zu werden.
